Dear Bilal regards,The details of harams are given in quran( read the halal o haram article by Dr. Qamar) every thing is halal except said . u should focus at the quranic term KULO MIN AL TAYYEBAT” it mean the scholar of the concern’s field whether eating/drinking or dead/action, tell u any harm or cause of harm for mankind, for a particular thing is HARAM otherwise every thing is HALAL..The list of halal & haram is mostly given by yahood ulama.

Dear brother Bilal,

It is true that Sharaab in Arabic does not mean wine or alcohol.
Sharaab in Arabic, is equivalent to Urdu Mashroob.

Khumr as described in Quran, as you have referred to, does not necessarily mean the drunkenness, or the intoxication caused by alcohol/wine etc.

Khumr according to the context in which it is mentioned, can easily mean the intoxication of power, wealth, influence etc. So has it been explained by brother Dr. Qamar.

As explained by Bhai Moazzam, Allah has not ordained much about the eatables, except that those should be “tayyab” and “halal”.

Halal here means that the source of that food must be halal.
Tayyab means that it must suit your health, taste, choice and selection.

Alcoholic drinks, and that includes wines, liquors, spirits, cannot be, and have not been, declared Haraam, as they have their diverse uses and benefits.

To misuse them for unconstructive preoccupations can be regarded as Haraam by the social norms, and some restrictions, as per the situation, can be applied by the authorities.

This is how I understand it from Quran.

I have received your mail on the subject too, and this is in reply to that too.

God bless you.
