Dear All, almost a year has gone since I found this website after reading the book “Haqeeqat-e-Salat” of Dr. Qamar Zaman. I have been totally… 100000% changed from who I was before 01year…I specially do thank to Mr. Aurangzaib who, time to time, has made my understanding of Real Deen more and more clear…I also thank to my namesake (Adnan creator of this wonderful website) who dispatched many books at my home to educate me further and accorded me status of an Executive Member…

Dear all, who are already convinced and those who are going through the phase of getting-convinced-period… I just want to share my feelings here with them.
Dr. Qamar Zaman is truly expressing and presenting the factual sense of Quran, undoubtedly. Mr. Adnan, Mr. Aurangzaib and Mr. Moazzam are also doing a job demands to be labeled “Jihaad”.

Despite, all realities, there is one gigantic Fact which, does have to be confronting with. The SOCIETY, THE REALATIVES/BLOOD REALATIVES, THE FRIENDS etc., These realities will NEVER ACCEPT you with SUCH BELIEFS/UNDERSTANDING that is pools apart and entirely different from what is existent in the Muslim world. You might have to lose your friends or your brother or your wife or your offspring or your parents or your relatives because of having such revolutionized and transfigured beliefs regarding Islam. This is very much painful to live with such circumstances when you do know that you are right but you are consecutively being named “Wrong”.

I invite all to present your views about such subject in order to cope with such state of life.

(Above words might be useless for some readers.)

We have two type of people in the world, those who PLAY THE GAME, and THOSE WHO WATCH THEM PLAY.

Those who hold on to their belief systems without questioning them, those who like personality worship and wont let it go, those who find peace in being stupid, these people are those who watch , and those who create FREEDOM in the belief system of the world, thats people who play the game.

Me myself like to play the game,i want to be a part of the game, but i couldnt find the game,,,before i came to Aastana and read Dr Q's books.

Thanks a trillionbillion.

Salam,

It's a difficult path specially when one hasn't reached end of the tunnel yet. People do tend to isolate you once they hear about your way of thinking but with a little bit of patience and consistency, they realise this is something that is making us beter and not bad, and even they cant help liking it. Even if they dont change, deep down I think everyone knows, only they dont want to admit and just continue to worship their egos they love so much. For me, everything changed after i took the step of speaking out...I told them i still love them all but it wouldnt matter to me if they stay or leave now. Truth is greater than anything else and the one who does not want to know...well its their choice to live in darkness. But cant help thinking, once the light takes over where will they go!
thanks

Dear Friends,

I am very grateful to have found out about Dr QZ Saheb and the aastana blog. I am even more grateful that my wife also recognizes and realizes Dr QZ's insights and understandings. We have both read the English translations of "The Truth about Soum" and "The Truth about Salat" and we are very happy to find the answers to other questions that we've had but could never find the answers to UNTIL we came here. I am now attempting to learn Urdu in order to read Dr QZ Saheb's other writings.

As far as losing friends and blood relatives....well we have already lost them about 7 years ago when we decided to give up blindly following and practicing N2I and the ahadees and other fairytales. And we are okay with that.

By the way I forgot to mention my Father is an N2I follower. He and I have drifted further apart since I stopped following N21.

The person who had performed the marriage ceremony for me and my wife is also an N2I follower. At the time we got married, my wife and I were N2I believers but that was a long time ago. Anyway, he and I are no longer close like how we used to be and he was always like a father to me as I was coming up in the world.

Thanks Dear Adnan (Karachi) for your good words. May the coming birthday of Aastana Blog be a happy omen for all members of Aastana family.

The gloomy situation some of our members (Adnan, Dr. Samreen, Sis Ume Aimon) are confronted with in their close circles is the product of our inglorious past. But why to feel depressed? Ever expanding knowledge in our times offers solutions to all kinds of problems men and societies face. So buck up! First of all, you are not alone. Look at your and other Quranic Blogs. How many people, in so many different and remote parts of the globe, are so close to your mindset and to your thinking! Some useful (proven) hints for you all:

You can tackle any untoward situation with Wisdom and Diplomacy – and with the use of a little bit of Psychology. Don’t expose yourself to all and sundry. Choose your target carefully. Don’t open up at once. Never adopt a harsh and rigid stance on any issue. Never ever reject Namaz, Roza and Hajj out rightly. Always show flexibility. Be always mindful of people’s religiosity and sentiments. Avoid open confrontations or debates. Tackle religious discussions with suggestive hints and gradual maneuvering, always taking lead from the nature of remarks you hear from the opposite side. Don’t portray yourself out of this world. Sometimes be compromising or surrendering to win a single point in favor of your ideology. You and they can always have some points of common agreement on the present status of Muslim Ummah. Then you can explain your reasons for this down fall. You always have to pay full attention to their viewpoints. It is great to win allies within your own closest circles. Show them off and on that you don’t hate Namaz and can perform this ritual as well as they can, emphasizing that this is social custom among Muslims, inherited from TRADITIONS. What Quran ordains is NOT NAMAZ but SALAAT. That too has to be performed, and is being neglected by us Muslims. This job will require patience and some compromises in the beginning. But it will eventually pave the way for acceptance of your views in some degree. I won allegiance of some hardliner Jama’at-e-Islamians by just always speaking of Maulana Maudoodi respectfully in discussions with them. Wow, they’re taking Quranic lessons from me!

I wish you the best of luck. You are the ones who are actually performing JIHAAD. Those who are in complete intellectual harmony with their families as well as with a number of close relatives/friends are really the fortunate ones. But try to be cheerful all the time.........take a lead from our Brilliant Sis Nargis in this respect.

Dear Aurangzaib Bhai,

For someone like me who lives in the West, do you think it would be much better to INTRODUCE the TRUE Quranic message to non-muslims?

The advice that you have given above is geared towards interaction with present day N2I followers which takes alot of work and you have to always be careful and use tact, etc. It is too much effort and time to "break the idols" of the N2I followers whereas with the non-muslims we do not have to get rid of the "baggage" of N2I AND we can help them understand the TRUE Quranic message from the very beginning.

Granted some people in the West will certainly have preordained biases, misconceptions and prejudices. But MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE reveals to me that it is easier and more pertinent to educate them as opposed to trying to educate the N2I believers.

What is your take on this thought?

Comments by: UmeAimon On 05 December 2010Report Abuse
You said it right brother Damon... it's easier to educate the one who atleast knows he doesn't know.I didn't give up though ..many of my family members especially my husband grandma and brother in law acknowledge the truth and thats the most amazing thing! none of my direct family members have neither the courage nor the intellect to leave the idolistic and ritulistic religion they are so fond and used to following only because they were born IN IT and majority arround them follows that. I used to feel sad for them but not any more ...they are resposible for their own actions and I just hope they realise it sooner than later that what they are doing or following is leading them to living hell.

Dear all,

Allah has chosen middle path for those who wish to live in peace. Muhammad, SA, had sublime character as stated in the Quran, so should we.

When a friend invited me, in order to bring me back to their "right path". I agreed and told him that I will watch his performance. He did not believe that I will go to the largest Muslid in one of the largest city of USA and just sit there and watch. Well that's what I did, and I did tell him. he was quite upset. So I took him out to lunch and during our Nan and Nihari, I asked him which Sura Imam recited. He could not recall. I casually asked him what Suras did he bring up from his memory bank. He said well forget about that, main thing is to do the Namaz, and that I should prepare myself for the grave. I repeated a line from a very old Indian movie "Admi".
AAj purani rahoin se Koi mujhe awaaz ne de door hoin mein ab saare gunahoin se

As dealing with the so called non Muslims is a different thing. One thing is that I nevr let go a chance to quote the Quran. One very religious Christian had an encounter of worst kind with me.

he was trying to "save" me through the blood of the Christ. I paid full attention to him and when he was out of steam. I said , I confess to be a Christian as I follow his message as much as I follow that of the earlier and later prophets.

"But he was not a prophet, he was the son of god, rather god himself" ( intentionally using small "g"), came the bombarded reply.

You are entitled to believe it. Is it written anywhere in any of the four collections of the Jesus saying where he might have said that father says so and so, or that my father wants you to know etc etc
he said, yes but-----------'

I suggested when he said that was he not giving a message from the father
Yes, but father and son is the same, he said and so many other such things.

after few minutes we agreed to disagree on certain point and agree on few including that he was did quote father. We disagreed on the point that he was a messenger.

So at the near end before my punch line, I repeated where i started from that I am a Christian as well as I do believe in the message give through Jesus and all prophets before and after Jesus.

Will you do the same.
But there is no salvage with out his sacrifice, going in circles.

Here is my punch line, closing
I asked his, "Am I safe with you, I mean can I expect to live in safety and peace as your neighbor."
He said, yes off course.
and can you my friend. and that is what the word Muslim means, the literal translation of Islam is peace. So in literal sense you are Muslim for me and I am for you,

and what about all those Alqaida and other morons ,

I asked him, will he feel safe living next to those. The answer was obvious. They are not and do not quality to be peace givers, the Muslims.

But how will one knows, he asked.

Yes, that is my concern as well.

We also have books and doctrines written many years after the prophet was gone and those were promoted by the wested interests over the words of the Quran, which was complied and completed during the life and under the supervision of the prophet himself.

'But we believe that he copied from the old and new testaments and other faiths," was his comment.

I said that is not the point, I am only making point about the timing of the collection of the documents. There were many books written and promoted by the ruling elites and the clergy was more than eager to oblige.

My discussion with this gentleman, a student of the bibles was quite long.

But I do have very short discussion as well. I use the tactic of planting. One seed can bring a big plant or tree.

I ask simple questions and quickly move on before they can answer.
My tactic is not to get into a discussion, as the discussion mentioned above did nothing, except satisfying our mutual egos.

Develop one liners, short ones, such as

I wonder how a fish will do Sujood. and then quickly change the subject. Leave the sublime bug and move on. The more you enjoy bugging, better you will become at it.
Frank
PS: I did not proof read, as it is getting late. Please ignore misspells and badly constructed sentences.

Salamunalaikum Sisters and Brother and Most Respected Br Dr Qamar Zaman and AurangZaib.

Fortunately I think I have privilege to post first response on this one of the greatest logical revolutionary Quranic study forum I ever come across.

I think people will realize what Dr Qmar Zaman has given to humanity. I have gone through many interpretations of Quran in my limited capacity. But I found Dr Zaman understanding far ahead of those existed. May be I am wrong in the site of many people. But I my self have a conviction after reading all his writings he is far ahead. I also indebted to Most Respected Br Aurang Zaib, and his writings in English gave in this forum clear picture to people those who could not understand other than English. I think He is prolific English writher.
And Brother Mozzam I greatly appreciate your contribution in this forum which helps to truth seekers.

I must say I am indebted to The Great Allama Pervezs Writings I think in his time there was no match to his understanding. and I also indebted to Respected Br Dr Shabbir Ahmad. From his forum i came to these new Horizons of real Islam

Dear Brother Damon and all,

For sure, my proven suggestive hints were for those of us who face N2Is in their closest circles. We all have our constraints and our compulsions; and we have to survive within our communities. We can even be killed outrightly for "blasphemy" at some particular turn of events. So, my advice was a detailed precautionary course of action which I and my circle here have found most workable.

However, those of us living in non-N2I societies, are at full liberty to propagate QURAN loudly and precisely as they have understood it.. Our intellectual friends - and you are a glittering example of this term - can work wonders in those societies with your crystal clear targets and aspirations.

Brother Abdullah Bashoeb,

Many many thanks for your good words. We are equally privileged to have a man of your literary caliber among our family. All credit for Aastana's revolutionary upheaval in Quranic and Islamic circles goes to respected Brother Dr. Qamar Zaman. This humble person is nothing but an ordinary student of his.

Undoubtedly, Great Allama Pervaiz was the one who laid foundations of Quranic infrastructure in our society. I am indebted to him too for familiarizing me with the importance of Quran in our lives at an early age. I am proud to have had a one-to-one meeting with the Great Man in late seventies on one of my visits to Pakistan. May Allah reward him with endless bounties in the hereafter.

God bless you all.

Dear All,

I think we should get guidance from QURAN as to how a Muslim should behave in an hostile
environment. If a Muslim has firm faith in his cause, he should be ready to sacrafice his life
in the way of Allah and feel pleasure to do so. Why gloomy ? why sad? when Allah is with you.

Muslim should find Muttaqis for preaching. Never compromise on truth. He should be bold , courageous
and firm. No hypocrisy , that will damage your personality.

Remember brothers knowing is different than believing. A verse for you,

HAZAR KHOF HOON DIL MAI ZOBAN HO DIL KI RAFIQ.

YAHI RAHA HAI ZAMANAY MAI QALUNDEROON KA TEREEQ.

and

NIKEL JATI HAI SUCHI BAT JISS K MOO SAI MASTI MAI

FAQIHAY MUSLAIHAT BEEN SAI WO RINDAY BADA KHAWAR UCHA.

I am waiting for complete translation of Quran by Doctor Qamer to form my ultimate opinion.

Dear Momin and all aastana friends: Brother Aurangzaib’s suggestions shows his concerns for this forum’s well wishers, where as Mr. Momin’s vigilance is also appreciable. My dears, Quran is the ultimate sincere guide for Muslims in each and every matter in each era. My opinion in this regard is, that while respecting the social cultural rituals of the society(the religion),we must be dare to proliferate the true quranic ideology. Plz read the surah ALMAIDA from start to end keeping in mind the same concerns.1:- Especial attention should be given at verse5/6(as per Dr QZ interpretation) 2:- We should not follow the attitude of the people mentioned in verses 5/21—24 . 3:- Be firm in belief at Allah’s system of rescue go to the verse 5/67,5/11.Now take further guidance (how to start the mission) from surah MUZZAMMIL and MUDDASSIR.The whole picture in this regard will be cleared.May Allah bless you all.

Brothers Adnan, Damon and All,

In continuation of my comment of 5 Dec., since it is a serious problem, being faced by most of our members, there are some more hints for keeping in view while dealing with hostile situations at home and abroad.

At home:
1. It is not a battle between Muslims and Kuffars, or Muslims and Mushrikeen.
2. It is a battle between two rival groups who equally claim to be Muslims – and righteous ones too - who often are members of one family and inter-dependent in many respects.
3. So, it is a BATTLE OF WITS to prove that the other group is ideologically or conceptually wrong.
4. The extremism is so intense that once we out rightly claim to be the righteous ones, we are immediately labeled and rejected.
5. So, we become outcasts. And we stand to face total isolation.
6. This situation is going to continue to exist until we no longer remain a minority or we have a strong political backing.
7. But what we need is to still keep living among these people to meet the social demands and to carry out our missionary work.
8. So, any careless step or any slogan mongering from us will not only make us suffer but will impede our missionary efforts.
9. We will be rendered unable to carry on with our argumentation or propagation.
10. We can sustain irretrievable losses, as explained earlier.
11. We have to remember that we still are non-entities as we neither have achieved the status of a community, nor are we a Movement, nor we have any political or sociological clout. We frankly are nothing outside the pages of this Blog. We do not enjoy freedom of thought and expression beyond this forum.
12. Some of our seniors have either been killed or are suffering prison terms for proclaiming the TRUTH. We do not have means to survive such calamities.

So friends, any sentimental suicidal inclinations are not advisable please.
Our strategy is this Divine Injunction (16/125):

ادْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ ۖ وَجَادِلْهُم بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ ۚإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ

“Invite towards God’s way with WISDOM and BEAUTIFUL PREACHING, and argue with them with whatever is the beautiful way. Verily, it is your Nourisher WHO better knows about who has transgressed from his way and who the Guided ones are”.

Allah also ordains that “there is no COMPULSION in matters of DEEN” (2/256). Apply this injunction on those you are trying to guide. You cannot force them, but can only convince them with frequent discourses and beautiful argumentations. And for that purpose, you have to be on friendly social terms with them.

For those Abroad:

The divine injunction for them is (29/46) that reads as under:
وَلَا تُجَادِلُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ

“AND DO NOT HOLD DISCUSSIONS (about Deen) WITH PEOPLE OF THE BOOK EXCEPT IN A BEAUTIFUL WAY.

God bless you.

Brother Aurangzaib,

I have read this last post by you more than once and after pondering upon it and the Quranic Ayaat you have cited it is clear that the message is to "avoid harsh confrontation if possible" while still inviting/calling to the message. This certainly makes a whole lot of sense.

I have a question I'd like to ask though; How do I "mingle" with the traditional minded muslims WITHOUT going to the masaajid, attending their Friday khutbas and performing namaz? How can I keep ties and relations with them when they are "fasting" where as I am not?

In order to invite them it is certainly strategic to remain cordial with them and avoid confrontation but at the same time I cannot bring myself to performing their rituals anymore or going to the mosques.

God Bless You.

Dear Brother Damon, (Adnan & all)

The mundane dictum is : "Chalo tum udher ko, hawaa ho jidher ki". Live in Rome as the Romans do. Without jumping to conclusions upon the above dictum, let us continue with our discourse.

If a Christian can be a Peace Provider (Muslim) irrespective of attending Sunday Mass regularly; if a Hindu can still be a Peace Provider (Muslim) in spite of worshiping his Idols intermittently; (2/62) why can't you still remain a Quranist while occasionally attending the Muslim Social Custom of Friday Prayer - just for the sake of meeting different classes of local community? And just to build credibility among your target audience?

Let our convictions not be so weak and fragile that we might fear their demolition just by our occasional participation in Muslim socio/religious rituals. We don't necessarily have to be the "ODD MAN OUT" there. Quranists have still to portray themselves as orthodox Muslims, though with a much broader and enlightened vision of our Deen. Who would otherwise listen to them? We don't have to be the outcast, solitary, sentimental slogan mongers.

For example, if I have to establish a firm and friendly rapprochement with Christians in a Christian society, the best way for me will be to behave so neutral and flexible that I would rather start living among them by paying a much highlighted visit to the local Church and offer a prayer there along with the Christian brothers. Don't you think that would establish me as a symbol of love, tolerance, pluralism and impartiality in a foreign environment? Wouldn't people there start respecting me and listening carefully to what I would be speaking about later on?

Remember Brother, Extremism incites Extremism; Hate begets hatred; Love and Tolerance, in turn, breed Love, RESPECT and Tolerance.

IT DOES NOT HOWEVER MEAN THAT WE WILL, OR HAVE TO, MAKE COMPROMISES ABOUT OUR QURANIC IDEOLOGY. Let skeptics think what they may. A Quranist will never be narrow-minded and will never hate human beings and their rituals and customs. And TADABBUR (Wisdom and Diplomacy) will always be his best weapon.

Let us not practice the same extremism and hatred which we are fighting against with our armor of Quranic values like, humanity, peace, security, freedom, love and tolerance.

God bless you.

Dear Demon:Happy to read the pragmetic views of brothert Aurangzaib, let me share the analogy of his views as i understood. There is a water pump (a mono-block having pump with electric motor),which must remain immersed in a under ground water tank, to up lift the water. You have to ensure two things 1:-the water should not enter in to the motor(therefore must be seald) 2:- It must be remain immersed in the water to achieve the goal.

Dear all,

Brother Aurangzeb has quoted a very relevant Ayat,

“Invite towards God’s way with WISDOM and BEAUTIFUL PREACHING, and argue with them with whatever is the beautiful way. Verily, it is your Nourisher WHO better knows about who has transgressed from his way and who the Guided ones are”.

But does this mean,

Quote,

"The mundane dictum is : "Chalo tum udher ko, hawaa ho jidher ki". Live in Rome as the Romans do.

Mr. Aurangzeb has given certain good suggestions but I strongly differ with him at places. Hindus and
so on can not be peace provider to Muslims. Had this been the case, Pakistan would not have emerged.
Different ideologies can not be at peace with each other, this is un-natural. Yes, surely we should try to
adopt best method and avoid confrontation but should never follow any thing we consider wrong for fear
of community. I ask you a question,

1.Did Prophet Muhammad worshiped idols to please other?

2. Please quote wrong customs/practices he followed while preaching something else?

I also differ when Mr Aurangzeb says,

1. It is not a battle between Muslims and Kuffars, or Muslims and Mushrikeen.

I think , situation is the same. Claim to call yourself Muslim does not change the reality.

So brothers what to do?

Do what Quran tells you. Do not follow anything you preach as wrong. Give personal example.
That is the best preaching. Everyone does not have the same courage. But ideal should not be
compromised. I may be having weaknesses. But everyone is not the same.

Dear Momin:The courage and wisdom required to call at right path, in different circumstances has also been elaborated with different examples of UMBIAS ,that will be the true interpretation of the verse, ادْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ ۖ وَجَادِلْهُم بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ ۚإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ .For example NOUH,MUSA,IBRAHIM,EISA .

Correct, Mr Moazzam. That is the right approach. I agree when you talk of Quran purely.

We all know and agree that we are to "invite to the path". The issue is do we do so while "blending in" or do we do so while not caring to blend in?

I am going to ponder on this some more, look at the pros and cons of each approach and then study the examples of the Anbiyya as moazzam suggested and I will come back to this thread at a later time, GW.

God Bless,
Damon.

Dear All,

I have been pondering on this and going through examples in the quran of the methodology of the nabiyyeen and in short I agree with what Momin had said regarding this issue. What made me even more convinced of this is a very non productive discussion I was having with a N2I follower over the weekend about hadees, polygamy, the Quranic Islam approach and Muhammad's so called marriage to a 9 year old little girl. What I have realized (which is something I have known all along anyway) is that these people (the N2I followers) will believe their nonsense no matter what any of us say or do to get them to see otherwise. They are the real kafiroon and we can all read 2:6,7 to see what is said about the kafiroon and their plight.

We are reminded in the quran that when we come across those who only wish to non productively argue and debate, who wish to engage in a bandying of ignorance to say "peace" to them and keep it moving. And we are also told in the quran to say to the kafiroon that we do not see eye to eye concerning the nature and reality of "Deen" and because of this we say to them "you have your concept of deen and I have mine" We are even told to respect and honor our parents BUT if they try to force into shirk to not obey them in this regard.

Taking all of that into account in addition to what aurangzaib already pointed out about using wisdom and diplomacy when inviting to the message I think the solution is very simple. And that is to make clear your position, invite to the true and correct message of the quran and use wisdom and diplomacy when doing so. Do not argue, debate or get confrontational. Once they make it clear that they are not interested in what you are inviting them to, then fine. Let it go and look for someone else who may be willing to listen. To them their way, and to you your way.

So I will not go back to their N2I mosques and make namaz with them and listen to their non quranic "Khutba" on Friday. I would not feel right doing so and I would almost feel like I'm straddling the fence if I did and one thing that I wish not to be is a fence straddler or hypocrite.

However, I also realize and acknowledge the sensitive situation of those who live in lands that are dominated by N2I believers such as Pakistan and may be outright dangerous to proclaim your belief in the "Quranic" Islamic ideology. The N2I followers routinely demonstrate that they are not interested in the quran and prefer hadees, sunnah, mullahs and fake sharia'. We here have demonstrated that we are interested in the quran and its ideology. It is because we are not rejectors of the truth when proven and unmistakable. If we CAN do it, then so CAN they, they merely wish not to so why waste your time, efforts and energy and anyone who has proven that he or she is not interested in deen as based on the quran?

For those living in the N2I lands, I think that there are two approaches that can be made:

1). Migrate from those lands to a place where your freedom of speech and expression aren't as oppressive and suppressive as they are in the N2I lands.

2). Those of us who are already living in non N2I countries should be on the forefront of the quranic movement, set a firm example to the rest of the world and make it so that the countries we are living will eventually adopt the Quranic Constitution and thus become Quranic States. Then these N2I countries would have no choice but to acknowledge what true deen is and its impact in a society when it is correctly implemented. The people in those countries can either migrate or uprise to demand deen in the land and not N2I.

This is my humble opinion on this issue.

God Bless You All.

Dear Damon,

You have given excellent suggestions in the light of Quranic teachings. I totally agree
with you. Your analysis and recommendations is light for all concerned.

It is good that this important matter has been discussed at length. I can add nothing more.
