The world has succeeded in creating global village by study of "lohimahfooz" and "Alkitab". Is
it wise to struggle for a state having label of "Islamic state" which will create a sect in humanity
and will not be acceptable even by Muslim Ummah?

Dear Mamo,

A hungry is neither Muslim nor atheist, he's just hungry. His need is nutrition. Someone who does not agree with the criminal mullahs need confidence to understand and ponder think as he wishes, without hindrance by fat fatwa’s from fat fatsos. Good people need the Quran and the confidence to express their thoughts freely. Otherwise, next generations will lose inventions these people may perhaps be able to give us in their life time- and our new generations have to start all over again.

We do not have to be accepted by the sect-Muslims, this offer (Quraniq state) is to meet the basic needs of people . Quran was not revealed to the pharaohs, but for those who could USE its contents. Every sect Muslim must be treated like any anti –quranists from another belief. We have to because their mental level is identical.

Dear Momin ! Very good question based at deep Quranic knowledge, need to be discussed in details.
"The world has succeeded in creating global village by study of "lohimahfooz" and "Alkitab". Is
it wise to struggle for a state having label of "Islamic state" which will create a sect in humanity
and will not be acceptable even by Muslim Ummah?" (by Momin)

Just note the following points to clarify the question.
"Islamic state" = Welfare state.
Muslim Ummah = So called Muslim Ummah.
sect in humanity = Merging a new welfare state.
DON'T CARE ABOUT THE ACCEPTANCE OR REJECTION FROM SO CALLED MUSLIMS UMMAH

Dear Momin
Yours is a good question, which became the basis for Pakistan movement. I've recently an article in daily paper. The article is very relevant to your question. It will be a good read for the Aastana contributors and readers.

Why Are Jews So powerful?

By: Dr Farrukh Saleem

There are only 14 million Jews in the world; seven million in the Americas, five million in Asia, two million in Europe and 100,000 in Africa. For every single Jew in the world there are 100 Muslims. Yet, Jews are more than a hundred times more powerful than all the Muslims put together.

Ever wondered why?

Jesus of Nazareth was Jewish. Albert Einstein, the most influential scientist of all time and TIME magazine's 'Person of the Century', was a Jew. Sigmund Freud -- id, ego, and superego -- the father of psychoanalysis was a Jew. So were Karl Marx, Paul Samuelson and Milton Friedman.

Here are a few other Jews whose intellectual output has enriched the whole humanity:
- Benjamin Rubin gave humanity the vaccinating needle. - Jonas Salk developed the first polio vaccine.
- Albert Sabin developed the improved live Polio vaccine.
- Gertrude Elion gave us a leukemia fighting drug.
- Baruch Blumberg developed the vaccination for Hepatitis B.
- Paul Ehrlich discovered a treatment for syphilis (a sexually transmitted disease).
- Elie Metchnikoff won a Nobel Prize in infectious diseases.
- Bernard Katz won a Nobel Prize in neuromuscular transmission.
- Andrew Schally won a Nobel in endocrinology (disorders of the endocrine system; diabetes, hyperthyroidism) ...
- Aaron Beck founded Cognitive Therapy (psychotherapy to treat mental disorders, depression and phobias).
- Gregory Pincus developed the first oral contraceptive pill.
- George Wald won a Nobel for furthering our understanding of the human eye.
- Stanley Cohen won a Nobel in embryology (study of embryos and their development) .
- Willem Kolff came up with the kidney dialysis machine.

Over the past 105 years, 14 million Jews have won 15-dozen Nobel Prizes while only three Nobel Prizes have been won by 1.4 billion Muslims (other than Peace Prizes).

Why are Jews so powerful?
- Stanley Mezor invented the first micro-processing chip. - Leo Szilard developed the first nuclear chain reactor.
- Peter Schultz, optical fibre cable;
- Charles Adler, traffic lights;
- Benno Strauss, stainless steel;
- Isador Kisee, sound movies;
- Emile Berliner, telephone microphone and
- Charles Ginsburg, videotape recorder.

Famous financiers in the business world who belong to Jewish faith include Ralph Lauren (Polo), Levis Strauss (Levi's Jeans), Howard Schultz (Starbuck's) , Sergey Brin (Google), Michael Dell (Dell Computers), Larry Ellison (Oracle), Donna Karan (DKNY), Irv Robbins (Baskin & Robbins) and Bill Rosenberg (Dunkin Donuts).

Richard Levin, President of Yale University, is a Jew. So are Henry Kissinger (American Secretary of State), Alan Greenspan (Federal chairman under Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush), Joseph Lieberman, Madeleine Albright (American Secretary of State), Maxim Litvinov (USSR foreign Minister), David Marshal (Singapore's first Chief Minister), Isaac Isaacs (Governor-General of Australia), Benjamin Disraeli (British statesman and author), Yevgeny Primakov (Russian PM), Jorge Sampaio (President of Portugal), Herb Gray (Canadian Deputy PM), Pierre Mendes (French PM), Michael Howard (British Home Secretary), Bruno Kreisky (Chancellor of Austria) and Robert Rubin (former American Secretary of Treasury).

In the media, famous Jews include Wolf Blitzer (CNN), Barbara Walters (ABC News), Eugene Meyer (Washington Post), Henry Grunwald (Editor-in-Chief Time), Katherine Graham (publisher of The Washington Post), Joseph Lelyyeld (Executive Editor, The New York Times), and Max Frankel (New York Times).

Can you name the most beneficent philanthropist in the history of the world?

The name is George Soros, a Jew, who has so far donated a colossal $4 billion most of which has gone as aid to scientists and universities around the world.

Second to George Soros is Walter Annenberg, another Jew, who has built a hundred libraries by donating an estimated $2 billion.

At the Olympics, Mark Spitz set a record of sorts by winning seven gold medals. Lenny Krayzelburg is a three- time Olympic Gold Medallist. Spitz, Krayzelburg and Boris Becker are all Jewish.

Did you know that Harrison Ford, George Burns, Tony Curtis, Charles Bronson, Sandra Bullock, Billy Crystal, Woody Allen, Paul Newman, Peter Sellers, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Douglas, Ben Kingsley, Kirk Douglas, William Shatner, Jerry Lewis, Arch Jose Manosa and Peter Falk are all Jewish?

As a matter of fact, Hollywood itself was founded by a Jew. Among directors and producers, Steven Spielberg, Mel Brooks, Oliver Stone, Aaron Spelling ('Beverly Hills 90210'), Neil Simon ('The Odd Couple'), Andrew Vaina ('Rambo 1/2/3'), Michael Man ('Starsky and Hutch'), Milos Forman ('One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest'), Douglas Fairbanks ('The Thief of Baghdad') and Ivan Reitman ('Ghostbusters' ) are all Jewish.

To be certain, Washington is the capital that matters and in Washington the lobby that matters is The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC. Washington knows that if PM Ehud Olmert were to discover that the earth is flat, AIPAC will make the 109th Congress pass a resolution congratulating Olmert on his discovery.

William James Sidis, with an IQ of 250-300, is the brightest human who ever existed. Guess what faith did he belong to?

So, why are Jews so powerful?
Answer: Education.

Why are Muslims so powerless?
There are an estimated 1,476,233,470 Muslims on the face of the planet: one billion in Asia, 400 million in Africa, 44 million in Europe and six million in the Americas. Every fifth human being is a Muslim; for every single Hindu there are two Muslims, for every Buddhist there are two Muslims and for every Jew there are one hundred Muslims.

Ever wondered why Muslims are so powerless?
Here is why: There are 57 member-countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), and all of them put together have around 500 universities; one university for every three million Muslims. The United States has 5,758 universities and India has 8,407. In 2004, Shanghai Jiao Tong University compiled an 'Academic Ranking of World Universities' , and intriguingly, not one university from the Muslim-majority states was in the top-500.

As per data collected by the UNDP, literacy in the Christian world stands at nearly 90 per cent and 15 Christian-majority states have a literacy rate of 100 per cent.

A Muslim-majority state, as a sharp contrast, has an average literacy rate of around 40 per cent and there is no Muslim-majority state with a literacy rate of 100 per cent.

Some 98 per cent of the 'literates' in the Christian world had completed primary school, while less than 50 per cent of the 'literates' in the Muslim world did the same.

Around 40 per cent of the 'literates' in the Christian world attended university while no more than two per cent of the 'literates' in the Muslim world did the same.

Muslim-majority countries have 230 scientists per one million Muslims. The US has 4,000 scientists per million and Japan has 5,000 per million.

In the entire Arab world, the total number of full-time researchers is 35,000 and there are only 50 technicians per one million Arabs (in the Christian world there are up to 1,000 technicians per one million).

Furthermore, the Muslim world spends 0.2 per cent of its GDP on research and development, while the
Christian world spends around five per cent of its GDP.

Conclusion: The Muslim world lacks the capacity to produce knowledge.

Daily newspapers per 1,000 people and number of book titles per million are two indicators of whether knowledge is being diffused in a society.

In Pakistan, there are 23 daily newspapers per 1,000 Pakistanis while the same ratio in Singapore is 360. In the UK, the number of book titles per million stands at 2,000 while the same in Egypt is 20.

Conclusion: The Muslim world is failing to diffuse knowledge.

Exports of high technology products as a percentage of total exports are an important indicator of knowledge application. Pakistan's exports of high technology products as a percentage of total exports stands at one per cent.

The same for Saudi Arabia is 0.3 per cent; Kuwait , Morocco , and Algeria are all at 0.3 per cent while Singapore is at 58 per cent.

Conclusion: The Muslim world is failing to apply knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless?
Because they aren't producing knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless?
Because they aren't diffusing knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless?
Because they aren't applying knowledge.

And, the future belongs to knowledge-based societies.

Interestingly, the combined annual GDP of 57 OIC-countries is under $2 trillion.
America, just by herself, produces goods and services worth $12 trillion; China $8 trillion, Japan $3.8 trillion and Germany $2.4 trillion (purchasing power parity basis).

Oil-rich Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Qatar collectively produce goods and services (mostly oil) worth $500 billion; Spain alone produces goods and services worth over $1 trillion,
Catholic Poland $489 billion and Buddhist Thailand $545 billion. (Muslim GDP as a percentage of world's GDP is fast declining).

So, why are Muslims so powerless?
Answer: Lack of education!.......

Dear Momin and Bqayyum

I think the world do not need Quran for progress. It needs knowledge, love, dedication and hard work; whereas religion only spreads hatred. And you cannot separate Quran from religion.

Salaam Dear Aastana Family,

Who said that it HAS to be "labeled" as a "Quranic State"? The name or label of the society is not important. What IS important is HOW this society functions and WHAT it does or does not for it's citizens living within their parameters.

The official name of the country Iran is "The ISLAMIC Republic of Iran"!! But other countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland and pre earthquake/tsunami Japan are closer to a Quranic welfare society vis-a-vis it's citizens WITHOUT the label of Quranic state than Iran and Saudi Arabia WITH the official label that they have adopted.

It's best to focus on the substance instead of mere labels.

Allah Hafiz,
Damon.

**(Is it wise to struggle for a state having label of "Islamic state" which will create a sect in humanity ) By Momin

Brother Momin, please allow me to rephrase the sentence;
"Struggle to create a welfare state for mankind."
What do you think about this one?

Brother Shariq; Quran has got nothing to do with "Religion", rather it provides us the concepts of faith, unity and discipline which are the essential components of true progress.
Knowledge, affection, dedication and hard work without faith, discipline and unity will get you nowhere.
Just saying!

Dear Participants! We have to come out of chaos and confusing state in the matter of Quranic terminologies and there religious use of YAHOOD ,CHRISTIANS,MAJOOS ,SAABI, MUSHRIK,MUSLIM,MOMIN.
Please go through my resent post in which this matter has been discussed in detail.
In fact we have to see the world in the paradigm of Quranic definitions of MUSLIM (a peace full character) and NONE MUSLIMS (the trouble creators).Indeed there is no Muslim Ummah which is being called Muslim and no trouble provider Ummah rather the character/characters amongst the society.
As for as religious world is concerns it should be taken as the culture (combination of dogmas, rituals) of a society / individual.
Mr Shariq ! Mind, Quran never support nor invites to religion rather calls at DEEN-E-ISLAM please understand the sense of DEEN-E-ISLAM
Brother Damon and Junaid Bhai are right in their stance.
Brother bqyyume ! Please differentiate between Muslims and none Muslims amongst the religious world no matter what registered religious title they may posses.

Dear All
I'm a man of average intellect and I understand that religion had been there ever since mankind gained intelligence. If you don't like the word, you may replace it with any other, say DEEN; but it still conveys the same concept. For hundreds of years Islam was regarded as one of the monotheistic religions and suddenly someone after 1400 years start saying, "oh! its not a religion" .
It still gives a set of rules and principles to lead a better life and create a welfare society. And those having some kind of faith or belief in those set of rules will be grouped as one set of people; say Muslims.
It is said that any reformer of any religious beliefs will end up in creating a sect which will be regarded an offshoot of that original religion.
You have almost created a new sect.
I am sorry but I want to learn.

Dear Shariq ! "It still gives a set of rules and principles to lead a better life and create a welfare society. And those having some kind of faith or belief in those set of rules will be grouped as one set of people; say Muslims."
FAITH OR BELIEF( with out knowing the logics and rational analysis whether true or false) = RELIGION.
FAITH /BELIEF (the developed concepts based at logical ground and practically seen results) = SCIENCE = DEEN

Dear brother Junaid,

You got my point. I am in full agreement with you.

"Struggle to create a welfare state for mankind." by Junaid.

Dear bqayyum,

What you wrote is factual and irrefutable.

Dear SS,

I would like to comment on your post with a verse,

"Yoon na tha , mai nai faqt chaha tha yoon ho jaiy." by Faiz.

I can't deny practically when you say,"YOU HAVE ALMOST CREATED NEW SECT."""

That is why I had asked this question about Labeling your struggle as Islamic. Brother Junaid's suggestion
is correct. Do you agree there. We already have example of Tullo-i-Islam movement, besides categorical
denial by Allama Pervez , the movement ended up as sect whether we like it or not.I wish future of aastana
be different. Unfortunately, you can not be successful in selling new product in old and
discarded label. That is the irony. Anyway aastana is doing a good job. I was talking about political effort.
However, Allama Pervez did contribute a lot. It is because of him that you and me are able to think.
Similarly, efforts of Doctor Qamer will bring similar results. Dear SS, we need to encourage such
movements/efforts but should advise them to learn the art of possible. You seem to be well conversant
with the Quranic work of Allama Pervez so certainly you don't believe such efforts for sectarianism,
but unfortunately followers of traditional Islam target you with the strategy of making you a sect. I
understand that is what you wanted to convey and I agreed with you.

Dear Moazzam,

The question I asked for discussion was stimulated by your thoughts. I am in full
agreement with you. absolutely no difference. You are the person who improved my concepts most.
Please correct me if you feel so. My aim of asking question is always to improve my understanding
by reading others views.

Salaam Dear Aastana Family,

I wish to share with you all MY PERSONAL understanding of the "Muslim" issue...

First, everyone here is already aware that the word Muslim shares the same root as the words Salaam and Islam among other words. In addition to peace and bliss, the root word SaLiMa (Seen-Laam-Meem) also means safety and security.

Now Look at this:

from SaLiMa we get MU-slim

from JaHaDa we get MU-jahid

from AaMaNa we get MU-min

from Salaa' we get MU-sallee

from NaDHaRa we get MU-ndheer

from WaQiYa we get TaQwa and MU-taqee

Do you all see the pattern? The Prefix "MU" is used to describe a person who PERFORMS a certain ACTION. NaDhaRa means to warn and admonish and a Mundheer is a person who warns or admonishes others. WaQiYa means to be mindful and exercise caution and a Mutaqee is someone who deliberately exercises caution and makes it a point to be mindful and be on guard. JaHaDa means to struggle or strive and a Mujahid is someone who strives or struggles and labors strenuously to reach an intended goal. Do you see the pattern? The prefix "MU" shows who is DOING the action of the verb. The prefix Mu shows that they are "Doers".

A MUSLIM is someone who performs certain actions to bring about peace, safety and security to others and to his or her environment. They Are Doers!! So, you have these people who "claim" that they are Muslims but they are false claims because they think that first of all since they believe certain things (with out "doing" the proper works) they are Muslims and secondly, we are only Muslims if we are doing the work required to bring about Salaam in the society.

It's all about doing the work.

THE QURAN DOES NOT PROMOTE NOR INVITE TO RELIGION!!

Since The Quran did not come to bring yet another religion, we can NOW properly understand 2/62 and 5/69. Also pay attention to 3/64. If The Quran came to introduce a new religion and compete with the already existing religions (Judaism and Christianity) then WHY would 2/62 and 5/69 seek to cooperate with them if they were "religious" competitors? The "wannabe" Muslims don't stop to think about that. It is because The Quran is not a book of religion, it is a book outlining an ideology and a constitution based on that ideology. Because of this, it invites EVERYONE to join the efforts of bringing this ideology and constitution into fruition INCLUDING people who subscribe to a religion, hence 2/62, 5/69 and 3/64.

On a related note a Mumin is not simply a "Believer". It is more than simply a "Believer". The word Mumin comes from AaMaNa which means to have strong conviction as well as belief in something. In our case it is belief or "conviction" in the ideology of The Quran. So if AaMaNa means to have strong conviction and the prefix "MU" means someone who ACTS upon the attached derived verb, then a MUMIN must be someone who ACTS upon his or her convictions or beliefs. I have a very strong conviction in the ideology of The Quran, but I am not a true Mumin if my conviction does not compel me to ACT and WORK. If I have true conviction in the ideology of Islam then I must demonstrate that conviction by trying my utmost to give life to this ideology in my society.

I hope you all can have this in your mind from now on when you read The Quran and you come across the oft repeated statement of "Yaa 'Ayyahul AllaDheena Aamanoo" which they usually translate as "Oh You Who Believe". But it should be more along the lines of "Oh You Who Are Working and acting upon your ideological convictions and beliefs" or something along those lines.

I think you all get what I am trying to say.

Salaam,
Damon.

Dear All

Mr Saad Haider, I didn’t mind your bizarre utterances, maybe you are used to it. However the reasoning given by Momin, Zubair and particularly Damon are thought provoking.

Daman said “The Quran is not a book of religion, it is a book outlining an ideology and a constitution based on that ideology. Because of this, it invites EVERYONE to join the efforts of bringing this ideology and constitution into fruition INCLUDING people who subscribe to a religion”

I checked out all references given by you Bro Daman and really appreciate your research on Quran. But can you deny the historical fact that Prophet Muhammad was born in Arabia during the seventh centaury AD. He professed to be messenger of Allah and preached something different from Judaism and Christianity. Resultantly, a group of people accepted his teachings and came to be known as Muslims. Their accredited way of life was named “ISLAM”.

The Quran also address the believers as “Musalmoon” and Christians, Jews and all followers of other religions were not called Musalmoon.

Why you are not inclined to accept that followers of Muhammad should not be called Muslim and Islam not to be called a religion in contrast with Christianity and Judaism.

In fact Christianity and Judaism was and still accepted as “ideology and constitution based on that ideology” by the followers of those religions. It was only subsided after the overthrow of Rule of Church.

Moreover, by joining the Muslim camp or as a matter of fact any camp, one has to accept few things as granted and is not allowed to ask any question to prove them. For example you have to accept that there is ALLAH, who sends MESSENGERS and that Prophet Muhammad is also the Prophet of Allah; and that Quran is the message from Allah. And that there is an hereafter, and this cosmos was created by Allah, etc, etc,

Isn't this all religion.

Shariq

Dear Shariq !

1) One has to accept few things as granted and not allowed to ask any question to prove them.(SS)
Yes this usually do in religions, but never in Science/ Deen.
2) For example you have to accept that there is ALLAH.(ss)
Yes, it is common practice in all religions, but in Deen / Science there should be no blind acceptance of any substance, thing with out evidence even ALLAH/the creator of universe.

Who sends MESSENGERS and that Prophet Muhammad is also the Prophet of Allah; and that Quran is the message from Allah.(ss)
Yes these all are from Allah/ the creator proven by its text.
And that there is an hereafter(ss)
Yes every thing has its end (proven).
This cosmos was created by Allah, etc, etc, (ss)
Yes some one created this call him by any name.
Isn't this all religion.(ss)
Yes this is the difference between Religion and DEEN.

OK ! I give up, from now on I will call Islam a DEEN

Will it put all wrongs right, and clear all wrong concepts. Will become the constitution of the world
Make this world safer for mankind
will clear off the extremists and the Mullas
Make all states the welfare states.
will provide food and shelter for the hungry and unprotected
will start doing justice to all and for all weak and mighty alike
will distribute all resources for the betterment of mankind
will eliminate all criminals and wrong doers from the face of the world.
will provide all necessities of life for all
etc, etc, etc,

Dear Moazzam,

You might agree with me that Shariq has raised excellent points for discussion and
enhancement of knowledge and better understanding. Your answers are relevant but need more
elaboration. Would you like to explain,

1. Religion demands belief in Allah who exists objectively but can't be proved. What is the concept
of Allah in Deen and how it proves it?
2. Religion says Prophets are chosen and sent by Allah which can't be proved. How Deen differs
and proves its stand?
3. Religion asks to believe in life here after (AKHIRA) which can't be proved. What "AKHIRA"
means in Deen?

I know these topics have already been discussed but I would request you to write a paragraph
on each question to stream line concepts of deen and religion. Meanwhile, I appreciate brother
Shariq's points but request him to think more on these questions and don't leave them like that
without reaching at conclusion. I am sure more knowledge will emerge from this discussion.

THANKS.

Salaam Dear Aastana Family,

SHARIQ: I checked out all references given by you Bro Daman and really appreciate your research on Quran. But can you deny the historical fact that Prophet Muhammad was born in Arabia during the seventh centaury AD. He professed to be messenger of Allah and preached something different from Judaism and Christianity. Resultantly, a group of people accepted his teachings and came to be known as Muslims. DAMON: The "Official" history says one thing and The Quran says another. We are finding holes in the "official" history all the time and so far The Quran is proving to be a very logical, thruthful and non-contradicting document. I believe when you think of a "messenger" you are thinking of someone with "Holy" tablets in his hands and yelling from the mountaintops to the people to follow him or they would all "burn in hell". This is the concept that man and the "official" history teach us. But the ARABIC QURAN paints an entirely different story. If you really want to get to the heart of this matter, you must study (not merely read) the Quran....and ONLY the quran....in ARABIC...using the Arabic Lexicons and Dictionaries...and using the unfailing methodology of Tasreeful Ayaat.

The ones who had an agenda have twisted certain words and concepts, borrowed very heavily from the existing Mythologies and Religions and concocted an image of Islam also being a religion. And I must say that they did a darn good job at doing so when you have native Arabs who don't even realize that the word Muslim CAN ONLY BE APPLIED to those who commit to certain "Actions" and that the word Muhammad IS NOT a proper noun. But the rules of the Arabic grammar along with the Quranic usages of these words prove just that.

SHARIQ: The Quran also address the believers as “Musalmoon” and Christians, Jews and all followers of other religions were not called Musalmoon.

DAMON: Can you please point out the ayat or ayaat in which The Quran addresses Al Muminoon as Muslimoon? They are not one and the same. A person CAN BE one and NOT the other. Please see 49/14

SHARIQ: Why you are not inclined to accept that followers of Muhammad should not be called Muslim and Islam not to be called a religion in contrast with Christianity and Judaism.

DAMON: Very simply, because that IS NOT how the QURAN uses these terms and concepts. I have read and heard what the orthodox (N2I) Muslims teach and I have taken the responsibility of arming myself with sufficient knowledge to investigate and study the "Arabic" Quran to ascertain the truth of these things for myself just as 17/36 instructs us to. I have to state this again so that I am very clear...I do not accept the terms and concepts that the N2I priests and their followers promote. I take my understanding strictly from The Quran. I will read scholars such as Dr Qamar who are writing about concepts and terms from The Quran and using the same tools and methodology that I use; that is tasreeful ayaat and the Arabic grammar books and Lexicons. So far, I have personally found Dr Qamar and Dr Akhtar Sherazi to be the top two scholars who are doing all of the right things. I study both scholars in the spirit of 39/18.

SHARIQ: In fact Christianity and Judaism was and still accepted as “ideology and constitution based on that ideology” by the followers of those religions. It was only subsided after the overthrow of Rule of Church.

DAMON: I am sorry Shariq, but this is incorrect. By the time The Nabiyy made his appearance with his message, both Christianity as well as Judaism were practiced back then as they are STILL practiced TO THIS DAY...and that is as a "Religion" complete with rituals, superstitous beliefs, miracles, priesthood, religious alms, prayers, churches and synagogues, lack of questioning of "religious authority" and all of the other things that come with "religion". The Nabiyy came with his messgage and ideology to eradicate all of that. However, because human beings are WHO THEY ARE it was just a matter of time before the ambitious elite would give new meanings and connotations to the quranic concepts and "force" their non-elite subjects to accept and follow these new connotations WITHOUT QUESTIONING...OR ELSE!!! And if anyone here does not believe in the "or else" part of the equation please go to Egypt, Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia with the though provoking questions and concepts that we discuss here all the time on the blog and let us see what your fate would be. The fact they have their man made "death to apostates" rule should tell you something. WHO came up with such a ridiculous thing and how long has it been going on? We have to think about these things guys.

SHARIQ: Moreover, by joining the Muslim camp or as a matter of fact any camp, one has to accept few things as granted and is not allowed to ask any question to prove them. For example you have to accept that there is ALLAH, who sends MESSENGERS and that Prophet Muhammad is also the Prophet of Allah; and that Quran is the message from Allah. And that there is an hereafter, and this cosmos was created by Allah, etc, etc,

DAMON: This too is incorrect. The Quran DEMANDS that we question, ponder and use our logic and rationality and to follow NOTHING blindly without making sense of it first. 34/46, 6/50, 2/219, 2/266, 3/190-191, 17/36, 10/24, 13/3, 16/10-11, 16/44, 16/68-69, 30/8, 30/21, 39/42, 45/13, 59/21, 35/19, 6/104, 39/18, 8/22, 67/10, 10/100, 21/10, 21/67, 23/80, 23/60.

SHARIQ: Isn't this all religion?

DAMON: What you are describing is religion, but it IS NOT the quran.

Salaam,
Damon.

^Salaam Sister Nargis,

I haven't received an e-mail that I recognize from you. It may have been sent to my spam folder which I automatically delete without checking them.

At any rate, I am at your service my sister. How can I assist you?

My dear Damon
You always take me in imagination a few decades back when I was a student of class four in a convent school and read the story of Damon and Pythias in my history book. I was so moved by their friendship that I used to cry for them in my solitary moments.

Now after so many years and going through so many ups and down I still feel like crying -- not for the friendship of Damon and Pythias but for myself and for Muslims around the world. I was born a Muslim and for being Muslim I feel the embarrassment of being discriminated, disgraced and excoriated as terrorists and religious extremists by the comity of Nations. Muslims remain the most illiterate and backward community of the world. My coming generations will have to face the same fate just for being born to Muslim parents.

We can deny all that is written in history books and deny all that was written and said about the glory of Islam in the past and we can start anew by applying the most rigid rules of grammar to give new meanings to the Quranic text. But is it going to change the world around us and restore our past glory.

I appreciate the coordinator for at least thinking to bring about a change by joining a political party but then he also backed out.

However this academic discussion is a good mental exercise and must go on. The pearls of knowledge spread by the Aastana philosophers may serve as beacons of wisdom for those who will come after us.

I feel ashamed to the future generations for failing to do what I should have done.
Sorry !!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Shariq,

While I appreciate your just concerns , I can't close my eyes from commendable logical honest
and rational rebuttal by brother Damon. Dear Shariq , this is a fact that we belong to Muslim civilization. We
can't disown our reality and exist. Can we? So what is the solution? Please suggest. I would like to listen to
your recommendations. Your analysis of ground realities can't be ignored which shows your practical approach.
but than recommendations are also necessary for dealing with the situation you explained as under,

"We can deny all that is written in history books and deny all that was written and said about the glory of Islam in the past and we can start anew by applying the most rigid rules of grammar to give new meanings to the Quranic text. But is it going to change the world around us and restore our past glory".

I appreciate and totally agree with your statement below,

" The pearls of knowledge spread by the Aastana philosophers may serve as beacons of wisdom for those
who will come after us."

You and me are here with the same hope. Although some of our friends could
not asses and discouraged you, but I knew you are sitting next to us in "KUSHTEE-I-NOH"
(as brother Moazzam says)

MY HEARTIEST CONGRADULATIONS.

Salaam Dear Shariq and Aastana Family,

Dear Shariq, if it's not a problem to you I would like to address a few things from your latest post.

SHARIQ: I was born a Muslim and for being Muslim I feel the embarrassment of being discriminated, disgraced and excoriated as terrorists and religious extremists by the comity of Nations.

and

SHARIQ: My coming generations will have to face the same fate just for being born to Muslim parents.

DAMON: I think part of our overall problem is that some of us are still under the misconception that we are BORN MUSLIM. Despite what the traditionalists teach the world, no one is BORN a Muslim. It is simply impossible to be BORN as a Muslim. A Muslim is something that a person has to become and they can only become a Muslim by working towards being so. The traditionalists also teach that everyone is born into a state of "submission" and that is another misconception that I personally disagree with. A new born baby is born knowing absolutely nothing. However, all newborn babies are born with the same needs which are to be fed, kept warm, burped after a feeding, having their diapers changed and held close to it's mother's bosom. To my mind that is not submission...that is dependence. If dependence is also a root definition of the word SaLiMa, then in that case we are all born a Muslim. Otherwise, it is a falsehood that we should try to stop repeating.

I think the best that we can say is that we were born to parents who called themselves Muslims and raised us with the culture, traditions and beliefs of what they believed Islam to be, even though their concept of Islam is inaccurate.

SHARIQ: We can deny all that is written in history books and deny all that was written and said about the glory of Islam in the past and we can start anew by applying the most rigid rules of grammar to give new meanings to the Quranic text. But is it going to change the world around us and restore our past glory.

DAMON: I have three things to address with this statement...

One...when we apply the rules of Arabic Grammar to The Quran (and of course using The Arabic Dictionaries and Lexicons) we will not come away with NEW meanings, we will be eradicating the man made connotations applied to the Quranic Arabic and RESTORING the ORIGINAL meanings and connotations. This endevor had to be taken up sooner or later.

Second...I do not believe it to be productive to talk about our past glory. Our past glory is unhelpful if we are living in misery and squalor today. Regardless of how accurate any of the history is about our past glory, the fact remains that mistakes were made and some people did some things wrong which is why we are in the predicament we are facing today. Instead of relishing the past, I think it more productive to "focus" on the present and set right the wrongs in order to "secure" ours and our children and grandchildren's future.

Thirdly...you ask is what we are doing going to change the world around us. The answer is yes and no. The change will eventually come regardless if you and I act or fail to act. Yawmul Qiyyam is a reality that we cannot stop. However, I do agree with G.A. Parvez when he said in his article "Is Islam A Failure" that we can "speed up" the process by doing what we are attemtping to do by working with Dr Qamar Saheb and the Aastana family. Even if you and I fail to act the work will still get done. It is a promise given in The Quran and I personally see more and more of that promise coming true as time passes on. Please reflect on Surahs 75, 89 and certainly Surah 110. So will we be able to change the world? Yes!! Will it happen overnight? No! But we didn't get into this mess overnight either. The Evile elite practiced strategy and patience in order to obtain their power. We must do the same to relinquish that power from them.

BUT THE KEY is NOT to be SELFISH or APATHETIC!!! By selfish, I mean to not shy away from doing the work because we will not see the results we wish to see in our lifetime. I call this selfish because by adopting such an attitude and not do the work that is needed for change, we will pass on this misery and chaos to our children, grandchildren and the future generations. And Apathy is an attitude of defeat which also makes people not do the work. They take on the attitude of "what's the point?" or "we cannot change things", etc. and let the fire continue to burn. We cannot be selfish or pessimistic like this.

SHARIQ: However this academic discussion is a good mental exercise and must go on. The pearls of knowledge spread by the Aastana philosophers may serve as beacons of wisdom for those who will come after us.

DAMON: Good, good...that's the spirit Brother Shariq. I am not doing this only for me. I am doing this for my children, my grandchildren, the future generations who will come after us, the helpless, the weak, the destitute, for Sister Nargis, for Brother Momin, for You!! As long as we do not give up and continue to strive towards our goal, the goal WILL BE ATTAINED and our efforts can have a direct or indirect affect on the way things play out. But strive, we must.

SHARIQ: I feel ashamed to the future generations for failing to do what I should have done.
Sorry !!!!!!!!!!!!

DAMON: You and I are in this position because WE have been failed by those who came BEFORE US. But it is not too late to break this vicious cycle and change things around. I have taken on the attitude that I will not adopt the defeatist mindset and pass that on to my children. I will not listen to or repeat the lies to my children. I am breaking the cycle. The "hand me downs" end here!! Please reflect on 2/170, 5/104, 6/148, 7/28, 7/70, 7/173, 9/23-24, 10/78, 11/62, 11/87, 11/109, 12/40, 14/10, 16/35, 21/53, 26/74, 31/21, 37/69-71, 43/22-24 and please reflect on 6/116.

Salaam,
Damon.
