Hi Sister Nargis,
Yes, I have sent the e-mail to . I guess there is the chance that it went to your spam folder instead of the inbox :-(
However, I believe it should be okay to just post it here since it isn't anything that would be juicy or anything like that.
Here it is with a couple of very slight modifications....
"I've read what you said about Dr. Puin's lecture and that he said that the proper name Allah is really "Al-iLah" but written in a peculiar way.
If you find this helpful, I will explain why I believe this is incorrect. The problem with this word "Allah" and trying to figure out if it's al-ilah or not mainly revolves around a very troublesome letter called Hemza. If I were to sit here and explain ALL of the intricacies of Hemza you would develop a headache :-D
So, I'll just simplify it for you by giving you two words from The Quran that has the definite article and the Hemza sitting under the letter Aliph, and those two words are Al-Islam (3:19) and Al-Ihsan (53:39). Notice how those words have the definite article in front of the word AND the words themselves each begin with the letter Aliph sitting on the Hemza. According to Dr. Puin's theory, these two words should each drop out the letter Aliph in the beginning of the words (after the definite article). But the letters Lam and Aliph are clearly accounted for and each distinguishable. So, as I have said before at the aastana blog, the Arabic word for "The God" could Only Be "Al-iLah". It simply cannot be "Allah".
Another perceived error Dr. Puin made is his claim that the Hemza from the letter Aliph transfers to the letter Lam which precedes it. This too is incorrect since according to the Arabic grammar the letter Lam Never carries the Hemza. In fact, the only three letters that ever do carry the Hemza are Aliph, Waw and Yaa.
This is the best way I can explain this without going into all of the complexities of the Hemza. The Hemza of Arabic causes much bigger headaches than the apostrophe of English."
DAMON - This was the e-mail that I sent you. Instead of re-sending it, I thought it would best to post it here for more eyes to see so that others here could correct me if my information and/or understanding (or both) is/are wrong.
By the way, Thank You for your warm welcome and if you are happy then I too am happy :-)
Sincerest Regards,
