Salaam Dear Aastana Family,
For those who live in the U.S. I wish to pass on something I have learned about a commercial establishment called Kinko's. Kinko's is a commercial printing and copying establishment which mean we can go to any establishment which is a printing and copying place.
But I am bringing this up because we can start distributing Dr. Qamar Zaman's books by printing it out ourselves at home and then taking it to a print and copy place to have them make as many copies we want and they can also bind them and put covers on them as well.
Also, I will make an attempt to contact Brother Zubair by e-mail about helping out as much as I can in making the workload any lighter for him as far as the book translation projects are concerned.
Salaam All,

Brother Damon,
Thanks for the information about Kinko. I am on board with you. We can print the books for loaning to friends or leaving them in Masjids. Before we embark on this project, I would like to make a suggestion. As you know all writers take their manuscript to a publisher who hands it to an Editor. After editing is done, the manuscript is sent to a proofreader. Hence, we need an experienced editor as well as a proofreader. Here I am taking about Brother Dr. Qamar’s Urdu books. We need to make sure the books use simple and error free language that even less educated readers can understand clearly. We can set up a fund to cover the costs of editing and proofreading.
If I can obtain a good Urdu Grammar Book, I might be able to edit or proofread some of the books voluntarily. During my college years, I liked the Urdu Grammar Book by Muhammad Hyatt Khan Sial. I am not sure if that book is still available.
I understand you leave in PA. Is that correct? If so, you are most welcome to stop by our home whenever you get a chance. We leave in Germantown, Maryland about 3 miles from I-270. You can get my email address and phone number from Brother Dr. Qamar or Adnan.

Salaam Dear Brother Zubair,
When I made my first post above, I was thinking more along the lines of printing out the pdf documents and then taking them to a print and copy place such as Kinko's so that they can make copies by the hundreds, bind the pages together and put book covers on them. After that is when I wanted to distribute them to friends, acquaintances and leave them in the Masjids. Also, it was my intention to do this with the three books that have been translated in English thus far.
I am still not in a position to proofread the Urdu books since I do not know how to read or speak Urdu. I know how to read the Urdu script and I have picked up some vocabulary and basic everyday expressions. It's not going to come to me overnight. In fact, the time required for me to reach a level of Urdu to be able to proof read the original Urdu books and translate any of them from Urdu into English is time that we probably do not have. But putting myself in your and Aurangzaib's shoes, I can't help but to feel that it may be somewhat strenuous to be the only two that are translating Dr. Qamar's works from Urdu into English right now.
Even though I do not know the Urdu language well enough to translate anything right now, I am still offering myself to you and am at your service in any capacity that I can.
Right now I am studying an Urdu grammar book called "Urdu: An Essential Grammar" by Ruth Laila Schmidt. With that name I am assuming that she is not a native Urdu speaker. But I had studied a book from that same series called "Arabic: An Essential Grammar" by Faruk Abu Chacra and found it be pretty useful and straightforward. Also, this Urdu grammar book has received some descent reviews on amazon ( )
A little bit of information about me if it's helpful; I work at a wholesale book warehouse. My employer ships wholesale to book vendors worldwide. He also has a few bookstores in our area. I started working for him at his bookstores back in 1996 and was once the head manager at one of his bookstores which is located in Macy's. I left that position after a year because I felt that the salary did not compensate for the workload and weekly hours that I was putting in.
Anyway, while working in the bookstores, he always asked us to sign out books to read so that we would be able to talk to our customers and tell them what books we have read, what we thought about them, what we liked and did not like about certain books and/or authors, etc.
I bring this up to let you know that I believe that I have the capabilities to proof read and/or edit any books that would be made available for the English reading people. Not to mention, a professional proof reader and/or editor will cost us money. I am more than willing to play my part and may be able to save us that expense. Please feel free to put me on a trial run to see how I measure up and to see if we can continue in that direction. If you feel that I don't measure up, then we will have to go the route of hiring out professional services. I am hoping that me being a native English speaker/reader can be useful as far as the most appropriate wording for the English translations geared towards the English readers goes.
I do have another plan that I wanted to attempt and I will e-mail or call you with those details to get your advise and suggestions about it.
You are correct, I do live in Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh to be exact). I will get in touch with you by phone or e-mail and hopefully we can take it form there.
