I wonder if there are any special requirements that the addressees of the Qur'an must undergo before they are mentally shaped to understand its content.

WHO did the Quran attempt to influence? What requirements / conditions must be fulfilled before a person can be deemed set to understand and follow the Quran?  
 
What frame of mind is the intended receiver of the message required to have according to the Quran?  
 
When are the Mullah, Pastors, Masters, Rabi, Pundits and their followers ready to understand the message?  
 
What stage must their mind be at before they can benefit from the Quran?  
 
Basically, who is the Quran talking to?

Bob Bhai, these are some really awesome and thought provoking questions.  
 
[ Bob ]-WHO did the Quran attempt to influence?  
 
[ Damon ]-I believe the Quran attempts to influence ANYONE who has Eemaan (conviction) with Allah and Yaumul Akhiri REGARDLESS of a religion or exclusive label they take on for themselves and has hopes of attaining a reward or compensation for that conviction. Please refer to 2/62 and 5/69. I think the Quran also attempts to influence those who have attained a certain level of power and influence and have the capabilities to implement correct actions in society. I base this belief on my understanding of 22/41.  
 
[ Bob ]-What requirements / conditions must be fulfilled before a person can be deemed set to understand and follow the Quran?  
 
[ Damon ]-I'd say those who have a desire to learn the Quran's message and program (54/17, 54/22, 54/32 and 54/40). Another requirement/condition is a "Sound" intellect (56/79). According to my understanding of 17/45 and 17/46 another prerequisite for understanding and comprehending the Quran is (once again) Eemaan (that is CONVICTION) in Al-Akhirah. And according to 20/114 one needs to practice patience AS WELL AS strive to attain KNOWLEDGE. In other words, the learned (according to 20/114) are the ones who are intellectually equipped to understand and decipher the Quran's contents and message. I am not speaking of any "Intellectual Elite". I am merely emphasizing that the ignorant and "mentally lazy" cannot understand (let alone implement) the Quran.  
 
[ Bob ]-When are the Mullah, Pastors, Masters, Rabi, Pundits and their followers ready to understand the message?  
 
[ Damon ]-I personally believe that the Mullahs, Pastors, Masters, Rabi and Pundits are among the people talked about in 2/8 through 2/12. Their followers are the same since they contribute to "perpetuate" the situation that the ayaat are describing. Please refer to 9/31  
 
[ Bob ]-What stage must their mind be at before they can benefit from the Quran?  
 
[ Damon ]-I believe it is a combination of the scenarios described by some of the ayaat I have referred to earlier. Namely 56/79, 20/114, 17/45 and 17/46.  
 
[ Bob ]-Basically, who is the Quran talking to?  
 
[ Damon ]-According to 2/185 The Quran is meant to be a source of guidance for An-Nas (mankind/humanity). Based on this, I believe that the Quran is talking to EVERYONE. However, as some of the other ayaat posted above illustrate, not everyone is willing to listen and learn.  
 
[ Bob ]-In what way does it motivate its audience is the next question  
 
[ Damon ]-Through the guarantees of reward and freedom from grief (2/62 and 5/69 again and 4/57 among others) as well as guarantees of doom and dire consequences (4/56, 6/70, 7/40 and 7/41 among others). I believe it also seeks to motivate people by reminding them that the Laws of Allah only help those who help themselves (13/11). And finally by asking it's readers to derive lessons from those who have suffered or are suffering the consequences of their wrong choices and behaviours (3/137, 22/45, 35/44) and those who have earned a goodly life due to making the correct choices and behaving accordingly (10/98). In other words, it reminds the people of Allah's Laws of Requital.

There is no controversy or confusion on my part. I understand Yaumul Akhirah the way I do based on my studies and research. You understand Yaumul Akhirah the way you do based on your studies and research. I will not attempt to impose my understanding upon you nor will I allow anyone here to impose their understanding upon me.

IN

hypnotherapy the therapist is creating new pathways in the brain of a patient. F example, if a girl has been subjected to incest, she will associate negative thoughts with the word uncle / father.  
 
Therapist is training her brain to think of alternative feelings and thoughts related to those words. He is then creating alternative pathways in her brain, by adding positive and totally different feelings with the words that makes her system of belief. In that way she is releasing herself from the negative feelings and her system of belief is being changed.  
 
Same with a child who has been beaten by his father throughout his childhood, whenever he hears the word father, he will have negative connotations to the word and his brain will collect related images from his childhood like when he used to be scared, shaking, getting nervous or the beating. The word itself is like a trigger and that’s stored in his subconscious.  
 
The therapist is slowly making new pictures and feelings associated with the word “father” in the part of his brain where other feelings related to this word are stored, then the depressing and damaging feelings that hinder him in developing, can be eliminated.  
 
So if you associate the word “yuck” with snakes, you will get a special feeling and an image of a snake will occur in your mind. But you won’t have the same feeling if the word “yuck” is used on a butterfly, because you don’t associate the word yuck with butterfly, these two words are not linked together.  
 
Try to think of words like Father, mother, childhood, pizza, rose, fist love etc., and you will see some kind of feeling or image will occur.  
 
*Now reflect on this, if the word Qatl, Zina, Jihad, Houries, Soum, Salaat, Iblees, Malaika, Jinn, shaitaan, Allah, Momin and Muslim are already serving as definite meanings to the audience, then why would the Persian Imams feel any need to change the words? These words existed in the Arab world before Islam and they were used as derivations already, no?  
 
*Why would they (Persian Imams) need to do it? If everyone believes zina is sex out of wedlock, then there is no point in replacing this word to another word?
 
 
I don’t even think they tried, because I think they misused peoples existing belief by either convincing them that the meanings are what they used to be (one derived meaning) or create a new system of belief by forcing upon them the derived meaning of the word, and made them overlook the root (and the context these words are used in)  
 
The words are serving as a sources of information functioning as the truth, the actual fact stored in people already, how will they change their system of belief to understand different ( the REAL information these words carry, or the purpose of using them in a special context) meaning to these words?  
 
Just like there is a motivation or intention behind a performed action, a purpose is behind any given order.  
 
The purposes behind the commandments in the Quran were changed to serve God, and the motivations of people were the garden and 72 houri tickets to paradise…

So when the Quran say it is for those who use their senses or encourage people to use their mind, then it is in my opinion, referring to someone whose EVERY possible sense are in one piece. It means every sense is and every part of the brain is free of prejudices  
 
Because the system of belief will work as a barrier somewhere in your mind, thus a part of your information source will be blocked.  
 
Everyone is using their senses but still can’t understand what’s being said when it’s information about something they either hate/dislike or already have made up their mind about.  
 
I think the encouragment of using our senses given in the Quran, is to release our mind from preoccupied system of beliefs, otherwise we won’t get the whole picture, only parts of it.  
 
I.E the associated reality with the given words in your conscious (information) must be examined and analyzed, to find whether they are true or not.  
 
So the audiences of the Quran are none but those who are free from EVERY MENTAL BONDAGE which is serving as a hindrance to understand everything (or some parts) the Quran. Not even one aya is to be missed; otherwise it can be associated with concepts out of the Quran-  
 
Those who have unchained themselves for every system of belief based on whatever (childhood memories, books of mythology, criterion of right or wrong from the society, ethics and morals formed in the community etc.) and were passed on them from whomever, (parents, society, people of authority, understanding of causes etc.) are the audience…  
 
When the audience is shaped and ready (ready means their brain have the ability to get the overview on how the universe and its creation works, understanding the reality ) to receive information (have tried out everything, now I want to try your way, sirate mustaqeem), then the method to act in a certain manner, or information about what to do,is ready (surah baqara starting with information about basic instinct(damaging instinct serving only ones own ego) Iblees and basic needs, Adam (human mind wanting to serve everyone, equality)  
 
or something something something pheew  
 
To check out what system of belief people have, I use this stupid but simple puzzle  
 
A boy is injured in a car accident, and when his father brings him to the hospital, the doctor cries out, that's my son...  
Question is who is the doctor?  
 
Believe me, people always answer that the doctor is the real father....

1.Good knowledge regarding how belief's are formed, appreciated. I have also seen links you  
posted at a glance.  
 
2.You said,(surah baqara starting with information about basic instinct(damaging instinct serving  
only ones own ego)  
 
3. Can you analyses what is ID ,ego and super ego? These are psychological terms, please  
look into their meanings from that angle. We need to study Freud and Alford Adler. I will discuss

1. Underneath are some of the facts regarding ego. Please locate "SHAITAN" and fix him somewhere.  
CAN YOU? When you read this you will understand why I give so much importance to human impulses,  
sentiments,desires and emotions. They are the main players in the drama. Each impulse (Id)has reality.  
Desire to live for ever can't be ignored by any religion or science. Impulse itself shows it is reality. Please  
don't mix it with Mullah's desire to sleep with72 women. That is not the actual impulse rather perverted  
form of real impulse which needs actualization at a very high level of evolution.So keep in mind that a  
large part of your personality consists of your desires and your attempts to satisfy them.Desire for continuity  
of life is your Id which must be satisfied. How could a true Prophet ignore human Id. That is always my  
point. You can not suppress your Id and become psycho.  
 
 
 
2. Understanding the Id, Ego, and Superego in Psychology

Sigmund Freud would have been a great Hollywood screenwriter. His "story" of personality is one of desire, power, control, and freedom. The plot is complex and the characters compete. Our personalities represent a drama of sorts, acted out in our minds. "You" are a product of how competing mental forces and structures interact. The ancient Greeks thought that all people were actors in the drama of the gods above. For Freud, we are simply actors in the drama of our minds, pushed by desire, pulled by conscience. Underneath the surface, our personalities represent the power struggles going on deep within us.  
 
Three main players carry all of this drama out:  
 
Id: The seat of our impulses  
 
Ego: Negotiates with the id, pleases the superego  
 
Superego: Keeps us on the straight and narrow  
 
Each of these characters has its own idea of what the outcome of the story should be. Their struggles are fueled by powerful motives, and each one is out for itself.

3. Structural Model (id, ego, superego)  
 
 
 
According to Freud, we are born with our Id. The id is an important part of our personality because as newborns, it allows us to get our basic needs met. Freud believed that the id is based on our pleasure principle. In other words, the id wants whatever feels good at the time, with no consideration for the reality of the situation. When a child is hungry, the id wants food, and therefore the child cries. When the child needs to be changed, the id cries. When the child is uncomfortable, in pain, too hot, too cold, or just wants attention, the id speaks up until his or her needs are met.  
 
 
 
The id doesn't care about reality, about the needs of anyone else, only its own satisfaction. If you think about it, babies are not real considerate of their parents' wishes. They have no care for time, whether their parents are sleeping, relaxing, eating dinner, or bathing. When the id wants something, nothing else is important.  
 
 
 
Within the next three years, as the child interacts more and more with the world, the second part of the personality begins to develop. Freud called this part the Ego. The ego is based on the reality principle. The ego understands that other people have needs and desires and that sometimes being impulsive or selfish can hurt us in the long run. Its the ego's job to meet the needs of the id, while taking into consideration the reality of the situation.  
 
 
 
By the age of five, or the end of the phallic stage of development, the Superego develops. The Superego is the moral part of us and develops due to the moral and ethical restraints placed on us by our caregivers. Many equate the superego with the conscience as it dictates our belief of right and wrong.  
 
 
 
In a healthy person, according to Freud, the ego is the strongest so that it can satisfy the needs of the id, not upset the superego, and still take into consideration the reality of every situation. Not an easy job by any means, but if the id gets too strong, impulses and self gratification take over the person's life. If the superego becomes to strong, the person would be driven by rigid morals, would be judgmental and unbending in his or her interactions with the world.  
 
4. If you read human history you will be surprised that desire to live for ever has been very important  
human impulse. Now you know that impulses are basically Id. How can you ignore that? How can any  
Prophet ignore this vital human impulse. You can't suppress Id. That is why religion will never finish  
from the world. The only option with us is to recognize this impulse and educate humans to make positive  
practical efforts for its attainment. That is the requirement. Otherwise in my opinion this book will loose its  
entire beauty and importance and will be reduced to an ordinary book.
