Q.Quran said to prophet as Rehmatal lil aalameen. Please explain.

1.Dear Saeed! Read the following terminologies before proceding to the topic under question.  
الْعَالَمِينَ = Derived from “ILMM” the sense of alameen extends to the knowledge of the people of that era about the universe/world. See the details given under to comprehend the sense of this term .  
وَأَنِّي فَضَّلْتُكُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ َ  
وَمَا اللّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلْمًا  
لِّلْعَالَمِينَ  
 
قُل لاَّ أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ  
ذِكْرَى لِلْعَالَمِينَ  
 
وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَالْيَسَعَ وَيُونُسَ وَلُوطًا وَكُلاًّ فضَّلْنَا عَلَى  
الْعَالَمِينَ  
 
وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَتَأْتُونَ الْفَاحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُم بِهَا مِنْ  
أَحَدٍ مِّنَ الْعَالَمِين  
وَإِذْ قَالَتِ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ يَا مَرْيَمُ إِنَّ اللّهَ اصْطَفَاكِ وَطَهَّرَكِ  
وَاصْطَفَاكِ عَلَى نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ  
 
فَإِنَّالله غَنِيٌّ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ  
To know the personality to whom Allah addressedوَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِين , you have to read the 21/51-92.then focus at verses21/107-109. The divine mission assigned to many prominent prophets has been reminded with their respective names.  
The verse 107 is related to any rasool in any era, who perform the same duty as described in verse 108-109.  
Remember they all were رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ (Rahmah to the people by whom they knew and to whom they know as well in that time)  
وَمَا  
نُرْسِلُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلاَّ مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ فَمَنْ آمَنَ وَأَصْلَح  
فَلاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ  
6/48  
 
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلاَّ  
بِلِسَانِ قَوْمِهِ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمْ فَيُضِلُّ اللّهُ مَن يَشَاءُ وَيَهْدِي مَن  
يَشَاءُ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ وَإِنَّمَا تُوَفَّوْنَ أُجُورَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَمَن زُحْزِحَ عَنِ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَدْ فَازَ وَما الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلاَّ مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ

My connection works just fine (AASTANA OWN'S THE NET :).  
 
Please also explain why in 2:133/ when Yaqoob is dying (getting Al-mot) and asking for oath from his banihey? why then some other place same word could mean NAKAMEE/FAILURE. also in 2:180. (in aastana's current translations as pasted below).  
 
 
أَمْ كُنتُمْ شُهَدَاءَ إِذْ حَضَرَ يَعْقُوبَ الْمَوْتُ إِذْ قَالَ لِبَنِيهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن بَعْدِي قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ إِلَٰهَكَ وَإِلَٰهَ آبَائِكَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ إِلَٰهًا وَاحِدًا وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ  
جس وقت یعقوب کوموت آئی تو کیا تم اس وقت کے گوا ہ تھے، جب انہوں نے اپنے بیٹوں سے پوچھا کہ میرے بعد تم کس کی فرمانبرداری کرو گے، تو انہوں نے کہا کہ آپ اور  
آپ کے باپ دادا ابراہیم اور اسمٰعیل اور اسحاق کے الٰہہ کی فرمانبرداری کریں گے جو یکتا ہے اور ہم اُسی کے لئیے سلامتی کے دینے والے ہیں۔  
 
 
كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ إِن تَرَكَ خَيْرًا الْوَصِيَّةُ لِلْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْأَقْرَبِينَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ۖ حَقًّا عَلَى الْمُتَّقِينَ  
تم پر فرض کیا جاتا ہے کہ جب تم میں سے کسی کو موت آئے تو اگر وہ کچھ مال چھوڑ نے والا ہو تو والدین اور قریب والوں کے لئے معروف طریقے و دستور کے مطابق وصیت کرے احکامات الہی کاعلم رکھنے والوں کے لئے یہ ایک لازم حقیقت ہے۔  
 
 
Also please explain the difference between (La-Rayb 2:2, Shak 10:104, and vaswasaa).  
 
Also please explain following 3:102, 3:157 to 158, 3:142 to 143, 3:168 to 3:169, 4:78, and Please please please PLEASE  
 
4:157 to 159.  
 
For NAFS I will fire up home PC will let you know after consulting Lane and other Lughaat's, for now without any refrences out of the thumb.  
 
NAFS is the result / choice of a living organism taken by constant processing going about in brain (You got to have it to do that), Brain just does not stop processing, even when asleep. Memory isn't in brain Its just an Adjuster of frequency, Input and an output device.

4.Sister Nargis ! Although the physical death is also called Maut, but befitted meanings should always be selected according to the context of the verses.  
Remember Allah is also a “NAFS” see the verse 3/30 يَوْمَ تَجِدُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ مُّحْضَرًا وَمَا عَمِلَتْ  
مِن سُوءٍ تَوَدُّ لَوْ أَنَّ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَهُ أَمَدًا بَعِيدًا  
وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ اللّهُ نَفْسَهُ وَاللّهُ رَؤُوفٌ بِالْعِبَادِ  
SO ALLAH IS ALSO INCLUDE IN KULLU NAFS, therefore the statement taken " in general" seems not correct.  
Whereas the statement “ كُلُّ  
نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ is for all such a people those have their behavior like described in verses from 3/179-184. The maut means “death of their character” (Zameer ka murda hona) due to their deeds/behavior, described in the above said verses.  
The reason of their maut is their own deeds, the time of their "maut' comes according to the due course of set procedure, see the verse 3/145  
وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفْسٍ أَنْ تَمُوتَ إِلاَّ  
بِإِذْنِ الله  
كِتَابًا مُّؤَجَّلاً وَمَن يُرِدْ ثَوَابَ الدُّنْيَا نُؤْتِهِ  
مِنْهَا وَمَن يُرِدْ ثَوَابَ الْآخِرَةِ نُؤْتِهِ مِنْهَا وَسَنَجْزِي  
الشَّاكِرِينَ  
Mind; the “HAYAT” of All “NUFOOS” also depend at the good deeds/ conduct and positive attitude, as Ambiya normally call their dead nation to give "Hayat" ( to make them purified from all evils)  
ALTHOUGH IT IS EXPERIENCED THAT ALMOST EVERY LIVING BODY HAS TO BE DIED.  
BUT KULLU NFSIN ZAIQATUL MAUT (WRITTEN IN THE VERSE YOU QUOTED) IS NOT TO MAKE US REALIZED THAT, EVERY LIVING THING WILL HAVE TO BE DEAD,

6.If kullu nafsin almout in this verse is UNIVERSAL, do you mean Allah's nafs will die too?  
 
Remember Allah is also a “NAFS” see the verse 3/30 يَوْمَ تَجِدُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ مُّحْضَرًا وَمَا عَمِلَتْ

وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ اللّهُ نَفْسَهُ وَاللّهُ رَؤُوفٌ بِالْعِبَادِ  
 
Its not Brother Moazzams elobration that is amazngly strange, whats amazangly strange is that people dont ask themself, why would the Quran use its space to tell us about something EVERYONE know? Is it not well known that everyone will die?  
 
Its amazingly strange that people didnt ask themself about this being a universal law for EVERY nafs, why not for Allah who clearly said he have a nafs?  
 
why is this verse taken out from its context and given as a universal law, why the gap between this verse and ayas before and after it?  
 
you will find EVERYTHING amazngly strange because thats how the truth is for those who have been deprived from it.

I think the context define the meaning of a word, because the contexts have a central role in defining the meanings of words. Because every individual together creates a society, the dealings with ones property or wealth fairly, is nessecary. If humanity is one, everything one person leave behind should be distributed Impartially Without favoritism of one over another.  
 
dr unlce or Brother moazzam can explain these verses, because i can still make mistakes (yes i know hard to believe)  
 
i hope you ask questions and give us time to see it from your angle and to reply. My teacher always said answers are easy to give, questions are difficult to find.

39/42  
 
“It is ALLAH Who takes away the NAFS at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep. He keeps those nafses for which He has ordained death and sends the rest for a term appointed. Verily, in this are sings for a people who think deeply “  
 
i have alwaysbeen curious about this one, this translation doesnt make sense to me :( " those that die not during their sleep."  
 
there is another verse almost similar, cant remember its no. something like "He takes yoru souls while you sleep"  
 
do you know which one im talking about? if yes, please explain :-D

7.Sister Nargis, Aastana members! ASLEEP AND DEATH DESCRIBED IN VERSE 39/42  
 
To know the sense of this verse you have to read the following terminologies  
1) NAUM/ SUBATA, وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا = The state of mind (attitude) when some one don’t want to understand (or in a confusion state).  
To comprehend the sense go through the verse 2/65 and find the meaning of السَّبْتِ. .Refer at following.  
 
اسی جگہ جان لیجیے کہ السبت کوئی دن کی بات نہیں ہے بلکہ یہ اہل کتاب کی وہ روش ہے جو انہوں نے الطور یعنی وحی الہی کے ساتھ اختیار کی ہوئی تھی۔ سبت کے بنیادی معنی کاہلی،سستی ، لاپرواہی کے ہیں۔ ملاحظہ فرمائیے سورۃ ۱۶ کی آیت نمبر ۱۲۴  
إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ السَّبْتُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ اخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ ۚ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ  
السبت تو انہی لوگوں پر تھو پا گیا تھا جنہوں نے وحی الہی کے معاملے میں اختلاف کیا تھا اور تمہارا پالنہار روز قیامت ان کے درمیان ان باتوں میں فیصلہ کر دیگا جن میں یہ لوگ اختلاف کرتے تھے۔  
تُوَفَّى2 = To award see the verses 3/161, 16/ 111  
3) HEEN حِينٍ = This also means the certain period of time, see the verses 2/36, 10/98  
4) حِينَ مَوْتِهَا = TILL HER (Nafs)TIME OF DEATH( physical and/or Zameer ki Maut)  
To comprehend the matter under question read the verses39/32-41. Here the principles of reward and punishment have been described. Especial attention should be paid at verse 39/38, it is explained that his distribution of “RAHMAH” factions under due course of set procedure.  
LET US ELABORATE THE VERSE 39/42,.  
The sense of the verse is that, the Allah (through Islamic state) keeps on providing the life necessities with extended tolerance to each “nafs” till his TIME OFDEATH ( zameer ki maut), and to the “ Nafs” which is in the mental state of NAUM/SABTas well.  
When THE MAUT(Zameer ki maut) of any “NAFS” has been decided (through due course of procedure), then Allah(the Islamic state) “hold to bestow his Rahmah upon him ( no further chance will be given). But a chance (up to certain time),will be given to the Nafs who is still in the state of NAUM/SABT, with the hope he might become righteous.  
REMEMBER; THE EXTREME STATE OF SABT CAUSES MAUT(Zameer ki maut) see the verse 2/65

نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ "KULLU NAFSIN ZAIQATUL MAUT" and ASLEEP VS DEATH description given in verse 39: 42, I am interested to know your opinions in this regard, only second opinion for my satisfaction. THANX.
